OKC

We went to Oklahoma (home of tornadoes) to see Nate and Brooke the other weekend. It was tons of fun. A much needed vacation for the both of us. We drove there and as soon as we crossed the border into Oklahoma it rained and I don't mean just a little rain. It rained so hard (we could not see the front of our car) and it lasted for a good hour.

We went to the Wrestling Hall of Fame Museum. Ben LOVED it. Me on the other hand, I am usually pretty tolerable to Ben and his wrestling passion/obsession. But the hall of fame was a little much for me. I had made it half way through the museum and Ben was still on the first exhibit reading every little thing.
I did learn an interesting fact about wrestling that Ben didn't know. Cael Sanderson (the man we are naming our first born son after) will not be coaching at Iowa State next year, he is going to Penn State (who even new that they had a wrestling program). Ben was a little disappointed about that news.
We also went the Oklahoma City bombing memorial. It was completely intense/touching, no words could describe it. The chairs in the picture represent all the people killed in the bombing.

While we where on our mini vacation something had attacked by bird house. I think it was our fat hungry birds.

Retaliation

How to retaliate when your son comes over and parks in your driveway.
1. open the garage door
2. start the car
3. rev the engine
4. press on the gas
5. wait for impact
6. take off and go get ice cream
7. come home and look at the big ginormous scratches you put on his car
8. make sure your son is in a good mood
9. give the puppy eyes while trying not to laugh
10. when all else fails do nothing

Here is a picture of those ginormous scratches

Oops can't really see them in that picture

Let me zoom in

Just kiding guys......I had to give you a hard time.

Go Cards

A friend gave us tickets to the Cards game the other day. it was lots of fun except the drunk lady sitting a couple of row behind us cursing up a storm. On the way home we rode the metro link. Not together...Ben decided to take a different train then me but not on purpose. We were running down the ramp to catch the train, as soon as we were about to get on it somebody over the loud speaker said "going straight to fairview heights" so I didn't get on. I thought if we got on that train it would not stop at our stop and go straight to fairview heights. Ben on the other hand got on the train just as the doors where closing. So here I am standing there as the train leaves with Ben on it. You might think no big deal, but I was downtown at night after a baseball game with drunk people. Not to mention I had no money and no cell phone. That was a little scary. I got on the next train and as soon as I got to my stop Ben was standing there waiting for me. That was such a relief.

How you know your family is getting old

You know your getting old when you spend Easter around the blood pressure machine instead of looking for Easter eggs.
We where in the kitchen when somehow we got on the topic about blood pressure and what meds people take for high blood pressure. My Uncle brought up that fact that he has his own blood pressure machine. So he got it out and each one of us got our blood pressure taken to see who had the highest.
We need to get some little kids in this family so we can talk about how many Easter eggs they got instead of what your blood pressure was.

Viv's Birthday

Happy Pre Birthday to Viv. We celebrated it on Sunday and had a special Sunday birthday dinner! All month long I have been secretly working on a breast cancer quilt for her. It is made out of mostly breast cancer fabric. I was really afraid she wouldn't like it because she really does not like pink. But o well she got the wrong cancer for that. So I gave it to her and she really liked it. She could not believe that I did it all on my own (I secretly know how to sew a little). I am just glad she liked it and now she has a feel good blanket to wrap up in on her bad days. Happy Birthday Viv!
