Roadcation Part 2

Iowa
Council Bluffs
The 2nd day we drove to see the Kanesville Tabernacle.
This is a replica of the original Tabernacle.

This one is for all you American Idol Fans.

"Apparently" while we were listing to all the stories about the Tabernacle we were sitting right behind David Archuleta. I had no idea. He looked really young. I would have never of known except when we were all leaving this missionary goes up to him and says "my wife would really love to get a picture with you". Later, we asked the missionary who that guy was and he told us. And then 5 mins later I had to ask Ben what that guys name was again. I am not an big American Idol fan.

Roadcation Part 1

3 states in 3 days......

Missouri
Independence
Temple Lot, when you stand on this lot you are higher than anything else around you.

This is the RLDS (community of Christ) Temple. We got to take a tour but it seemed more like an art museum than a temple inside.
Liberty

Liberty Jail, the only thing original about this jail is the floor and some of the stones on the side.

FarWest
When we arrived, there was a car in the parking lot and on the back of that car it said in big bold letters, the book of Mormon is total fiction.
When we walked onto the temple grounds I started looking around trying to match that car to the owner. It wasn't that hard. This very patient missionary was being antagonized by this man. And of course, if you know Ben he could not just mind his own business. Ben stood by one of the stones pretending to look at it while listening to what this guy was saying. When we got back to the car the first thing Ben says is "I want to give him a Book of Mormon". I immediately told him "no, he is going to punch you in the face". I could totally picture it in my head. Ben hands him a book and boom, a fight on temple grounds. They would probably have to rededicate it.
I gave in and let Ben bring the guy a BofM. My anxiety was through the roof as I sat in the car watching Ben. And thank goodness Ben did not get punched. Ben spent a good half hour talking to this guy and all this guy wanted to do is blah, blah, blah people's ear's off.
Adam-ondi-Ahman
Ben on Temple Hill. Remains of the Nephite's tower was found here.

Hauns Mill

This place is located in the middle of corn fields and tress. The only thing left is the creek.
When we pulled up to the site these big bugs started attacking our car. They looked like BIG bees. These bug flew full force into our car. We had to sit in the car for at least 5 mins before we could even get out.

We did all of this in one day, just me and my hubby. It was very amazing and spiritual to think of all the things that have happened at these sites.

If I didn't have a Dog......

I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.
My house could be carpeted instead of wood.
All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, blankets and cars would be
free of hair.
When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel and I could get to the door without wading through a fuzzy body who beats me there.
I could sit on the couch and bed the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how much space a fury body needs to get comfortable.
I would have money and no guilt to go on a real vacation.
I would not be on a first-name basis with a veterinarian, as I put their yet unborn kids through college.
The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, stop it and leave it.
I would not talk baby talk. ' Was your breakfast good '. 'How's my baby girl' ..
My house would not look like a day care center, toys everywhere.
My pockets would not contain things like poop bags and treats .
I would no longer have to spell out the words B-A-L-L, W-A-L-K, T-R-E-A-T, C-A-R R-I-D-E
I would not have as much dirt inside my house as outside.
I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE
dog ties them down too much.
I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading it .
I would not have to answer the question 'Why do you have a dog?' from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get in this life.
How EMPTY my life would be!!!

Happy 7th Birthday Sandy!!

What a mess

I have been wanting to paint my living room ever since I painted it a year ago. The problem I have is finding the right color. I have it right here in my head and it is so frustrating. This is what my wall of color looks like right now. Tomorrow it could have more stripes on it.

All Star

Everybody knows that the Baseball All Star game is happening on Tuesday. Well if you didn't, you do now. Since the game is happening in the STL there is a lot of activity's going on to celebrate. One of those is the FanFest and I went with my parents. That's us in front of the world's largest baseball. They had a lot memorabilia to buy and activities to do. My favorite thing was the brand new Camaro that I got to sit in. I took a picture of the car and sent it to Ben who was at work. He was totally jealous and I got cool points.

They also had baseball Hall of Famers signing autographs. My dad stood in line for an hour and a half to get Rally Fingers autograph.

And also this person, but I can't remember who it was.

I also got to meet all the Cards players.

Dream Vacation

It's finally going to happened. I am so excited. Ben has given the green light and we are going to Sicily in 2 years!! Why 2 years? Because it is stinken expensive and we need to save money. So that also means no major vacations until then. I need my Italian speaken Uncle to go, so my family better start saving also.
I have wanted to go ever since I started getting into my genealogy about 6 years ago. Not much is known about my moms genealogy. All we really know is that my great grandparents came over from Sicily. Great grandfather Angelo came over with his brother Rosario in the early 1900's and Angelo's wife Maria come over a couple years later. After Rosario's son died he left the US and went back to Sicily. I know Angelo and Maria parents name but that is about it. So I can't wait until we go to Sicily. I am going to look up every Pulvirenti living in Sicily to see if they are related to me. And Ben thinks this trip is going to be relaxing.

It finally happened

I broke down and went to the eye dr. I got glasses about 5 years ago and never really wore them, they gave me headaches. I have started getting double vision. Ben and I went to see the Tabernacle Choir sing in the ScottTrade center and the inside is shaped like an oval. The choir was at one end of the oval and we were at the other. It was kind of dark inside and I was looking at the stage. I could see that the guys on the stage were standing up but I could not tell that the girls were. They were all wearing the same color dress and it looked like one big mass. To me they had no heads. One of our friends aunts was singing and she was 4 rows up and 4 over. But I did not get to see here because I can't see!
